MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) - Mattoon High School was put on a soft lock down Wednesday.

The Mattoon Police Department said the lock down was initiated while officers assisted the Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force with an investigation in the area of the high school.

Out of an abundance of caution, the soft lock down was initiated, preventing students and staff from leaving the building. The lock down was lifted a short time later when the investigation ended.

At noon, task force agents found an individual identified in their investigation traveling in a vehicle. He was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant from Minnesota.

MPD said there was no threat to the school.
