MONTICELLO, Ill. (WAND) - A Monticello Police officer has been arrested on child pornography charges.Â
Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 5 arrested 39-year-old William C. Griswold of Monticello Tuesday for Dissemination of Child Pornography (Class X Felony).
On August 13, 2024, ISP conducted a residential search warrant in Monticello in reference to multiple Cyber Tips received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding child pornography.Â
Before the search warrant was executed, ISP special agents took William C. Griswold into custody and transported him to the Piatt County Jail.
Records show Griswold was hired to the Monticello Police Department in 2010.Â
Griswold was placed on unpaid leave once the department was advised of the investigation and arrest. Pending further investigation, other action, including termination, could be taken, Monticello Police said.Â
