HOMER, Ill. (WAND) - IL-49 was shut down Saturday night while crews battled a barn fire.Â
The Homer Fire Department was called out to a barn fire north of Homer near IL-49 at 7:19 p.m.
It was the Old Allison Barn, located directly behind Casey’s.
Drivers were diverted to County Rd. 1175N for those traveling south.Â
Multiple agencies responded due to the size of the barn fire. Crews used multiple hand lines from two separate engines and began an aggressive attack. Due to the extent of the fire and the structural conditions, it was determined that an aerial attack would be the safest. Savoy Fire was able to help with a ladder truck.Â
