Coroner identifies mother, 8-year-old daughter killed in I-55 crash

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The two people, including an 8-year-old girl, killed in a crash on Interstate 55 were identified by the Sangamon County Coroner Wednesday.

Illinois State Police troopers were called at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday morning to I-55 south near the Interstate 72 split, milepost 92.

ISP said a passenger vehicle hit the back of a semi truck.

Two people, 37-year-old Jennifer Damm of Riverton and her eight-year-old daughter, Kendyn Damm, were killed in the crash, according to the Sangamon County Coroner's Office.

The North Mac School District did share a post on Facebook identifying Kendyn as a student of the district. The district will have counselors on hand for anyone who needs support.

The crash is under investigation.
