MT. ZION, Ill. (WAND) — "It's a community that has always banded together," says Brandon Kraus, owner of Lockhart's Barber College. "We've seen it many times before."

And now, that time is here. They say it takes a village, and this week that couldn't be more true.

Following the devastating ATV accident involving two children, Mt. Zion businesses and local groups are rallying to support the families in ways they can.

"We had some leftover red Christmas ribbons, and I thought let's just make a couple keychains..." says Melissa Cotton. "I'll post on Facebook, and maybe we'll sell ten of them. Well, it exploded."

Cotton and her daughter have sold hundreds of keychains now that read 'Mt. Zion Strong' as a way to donate money to the families.

Other businesses, like Lockhart's Barber College, are putting a portion of their sales to those impacted the most. "All the sales, from the services that we do this week... we're donating 10% to the two families that have been affected" says Kraus.

The community, spreading their light and their condolences during this time of grieving.
