SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - Multiple people were rescued from an apartment fire in Springfield Sunday.Â
The Springfield Fire Department was called to the 800 block of Enterprise St. at 9:48 a.m. for a fire at a multiple story residence that had been turned into several apartments.Â
Multiple people were trapped.Â
Firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue someone on the second floor and rescued two trapped people from the first floor. The person on the second floor was hanging from a window.Â
No one was taken to the hospital.Â
Additional units were called in due to the number of trapped people.Â
The fire was quickly put out, but several pets could not be saved.Â
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Five people in all were displaced by the fire and are being helped by the American Red Cross.Â
