Decatur - The Macon County States Attorney has released the name for the 15-year-old accused of killing Junisha Cummings.

 

Latrell D. Flagg, 15, is currently being held on three counts of first degree murder. The states attorney told WAND he will be charged as an adult. He could spend 20-60 years if convicted for the shooting death of 15-year-old Junisha Cummings, plus a mandatory 25 to life for unlawful discharge of a firearm.

 In a police sworn statement a witness says two groups were fighting in the roadway of 300 West Leafland. 

The witness says he tried to break up the fight. That's when he says says Flagg yelled to "get back"  and raised a hangun and fired a shot. The witness says he took off running and heard two other shots fired. One of those shots allegedly hit Cummings in the head. 

In the sworn statement the arresting officer identifies individuals in one of the groups.  Most of them are minors some of them attending Macarthur high school.  
People who live in that neighborhood have complained of gang violence in particular one group coming from the east side of town. 

Cummings was shot to death on November 13th, in the 1200 block of North Union Street. She was transported to Carle Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m. Cummings died from a gun shot to the head.
