IROQUOIS COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - The name of a snowplow driver with the Illinois Department of Transportation who was killed in a crash with a train in Iroquois County Monday has been released. 

Illinois State Police told WAND News the crash happened at 2300 North, west of US Route 45 in Danforth around 8:30 a.m. 

ISP said troopers were called out for a crash involving an IDOT snowplow and a train. 

The driver of the snowplow was airlifted to the hospital but was pronounced dead. 

Public Information Officer with IDOT Paul Wappel identified the driver as Aaron Pittman-Teague. 

In a statement, Wappel told WAND News, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Aaron Pittman-Teague, a full-time temporary highway maintainer since 2023 who died Monday morning when the snowplow he was operating was struck by a train in Iroquois County. Our thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and to all of those impacted. The department will be cooperating with the Illinois State Police as they continue to investigate.”
