NEOGA, Ill. (WAND) - Students are returning to classes in Neoga after an EF-2 tornado ripped through school buildings on March 15.Â
The tornado severely damaged the elementary and jr./sr. high schools.
The restart of classes was postponed from March 24 to March 26 after Superintendent Kevin Haarman said more time was needed to ensure the buildings were safe for students and staff.Â
High School students will resume instruction at the Neoga Community Center - 641 W. 6th Street, Neoga, IL - which previously served as the Elementary School.
The extra school closure days will be classified as Act of God Days and will not need to be made up.
The last student attendance day remains scheduled for May 30, 2025.
