MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) — A fire at the Bimbo Bakery plant was quickly taken care of with no injuries, according to the Mattoon Fire Department.

Crews arrived to the plant around 3:37 p.m. on Wednesday right as workers were being evacuated from the building. According to bakery staff, employees had used an extinguisher on a fire in an office closet, but were unsure if the fire had been fully extinguished.

The department found no further fire and began ventilating the area. No fire or smoke reached the production area of the plant. Damage was limited to the office closet.

Employees were able to return to work after the smoke had cleared and crews left around 4:34 p.m.
