SHELBYVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — An Okaw Valley School teacher who was arrested for indecent solicitation of a child and grooming in Shelby County has been arrested in Moultrie County on similar charges after being released from jail.

Jason Engler, a 45-year-old middle school teacher, was arrested by the Findlay Police Department after being contacted by the school district.

He was taken to the Shelby County Detention Center before he was arraigned. In court this week, he was put on home confinement with GPS and ordered not to use the internet or social media.

Moultrie County State's Attorney Tracy Weaver said Engler was arrested Friday morning on a warrant issued in Moultrie County. He was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and grooming.

Court documents show the alleged incidents happened between May 2024 to Aug. 20, 2024. Engler is accused of touching a minor in a sexual way and using an online service to seduce and lure a minor to distribute images.

The documents say Engler was in a position of "trust, authority, or supervision" over the victim.

Engler is now being held in Moultrie County's detention center and scheduled to appear in court in Sullivan for an arraignment and detention hearing on Aug. 26 at 11 a.m.

Engler had been due to return to court in Shelby County in mid-September.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
