LINCOLN, Ill. (WAND) — It started off as a small liquor store in 1985. After a family man with a dream bought the building, Old Joe's Tavern has been around since.

And now they're getting ready to celebrate 40 years in service with a day-long party on Saturday, February 8th beginning at 9 a.m.

Nana Papesch, the owner, said that this place serves everyone.

"We just continued on and patrons over time have changed, and have come and gone and that we always — all our patrons — we take care of everybody or take care of each other," said Papesch.

This business has gathered members from all over the community. And when one of their people need help, they're quick to respond.

"One time a good friend had an accident and he was paralyzed in that. And he was in need of a van or some kind of transportation. And we held a big benefit here for him," said Papesch.

She says they don't make much, but what they have is enough

"We're not going to be millionaires, but we're not going to be paupers. So we just maintain a living. And that's, that's all I think is that, good friends, good friends and good patrons," said Papesch.
