SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A 31-year-old Springfield man was killed in a shooting on Saturday night.
According to the sheriff's office, over 50 shots were fired around the 2800 block of East Carpenter about 7:45 p.m. A 23-year-old woman and 31-year-old man were shot. The man, identified by the coroner as Lajarvious Smith, was brought to a hospital but died shortly after arriving. The coroner said he had been shot multiple times.
Springfield detectives have asked the public for information and video recordings. They believe a dark, four-door sedan was involved.
