Owner/Founder of Roy’s Lemonade to visit Decatur after social media explosion

DECATUR – According to Roy’s Lemonade, its owner and founder is making a trip to Decatur after the namesake product exploded on social media.

The unprecedented explosion of sales started with a few posts on Facebook from a Decatur family members talking about how good the lemonade was. That caused the Harvest Market on Route 48 to run out of the product. Company officials say the store was selling more product in a couple days than they normally do in a month.

It was after this initial rush that the viral activity began.

Roy’s Lemonade officials say Decatur residents then began posting on the Roy’s Lemonade Facebook page asking for more product to be sent to Decatur. They say there also Facebook live broadcasts, hashtags made and even memes.

The store and Roy’s Lemonade, which is headquartered in Louisiana, worked together to express ship hundreds of gallons to get the demand met.

Hundreds of gallons of Roy’s Lemonade have reportedly been sold at the Decatur Harvest Market in just a week.

Now, company officials say the owner and founder, Roy Devillier, was so overwhelmed by the response from the Decatur community that he not only sent a few hundred free cups to give away, but he will be making a visit to the store on Wednesday, December 21 to meet supporters.

Devillier will be at the store from noon to 3 PM on Wednesday to talk about the lemonade, hand out free samples and also do special giveaways.
