PAWNEE, Ill. (WAND) — A woman was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle in Pawnee Wednesday.
On Nov. 1, the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office assisted the Pawnee Police Department with an investigation that involved a 29-year-old woman being struck by a vehicle.
At the scene, officers determined the woman and the driver of the truck, Robert R. Terry, 64, were in a domestic disturbance prior to the incident. The victim was taken to a hospital via airlift with life threatening injuries. She sustained multiple fractures along with a lacerated kidney. She is currently undergoing surgery.
Robert Terry was interviewed by the Sheriff's Office and was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery/great bodily harm, and aggravated reckless driving. He is currently being held in the Sangamon County Jail.
Illinois State Police, Sangamon County, Divernon, and Auburn Police Departments assisted at the scene. The incident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office as well as the Pawnee Police Department.
