DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – New Jersey-based Rising Pharmaceuticals is ending its Decatur operations after two years.

About 95 employees were told Monday that the company was shutting down its two Decatur facilities effective immediately. A worker told WAND News the company will provide severance in the form of full pay and benefits through Nov. 15.

Rising purchased the Decatur facilities in 2023 after Akorn Pharmaceuticals went bankrupt. The city was notified by Rising while paperwork for a state WARN notice was also filed.

Workforce Investment Solutions was notified of the layoffs by Rising. They can assist people seeking jobs by finding training, teaching how to do a resume, filling out a job application and loading those into a computer.

A rapid response event with the state will take place in the near future for those employees. Workforce is located at 757 W. Pershing Road, and those in need can call (217) 875-8751.
