CHICAGO (AP) -- The Republican candidate for lieutenant governor has missed three appearances with his opponents, including a forum he skipped out on just minutes before it began.

Most recently, Jason Plummer missed a debate Thursday at WMAQ-TV studios in Chicago.

Democrat Sheila Simon says she confirmed for Thursday's event in August. She says she found out Monday that Plummer wasn't coming.

Instead, an empty chair sat where Plummer would've been.

Earlier this month, Plummer was scheduled for a health care policy forum but called a few minutes before he was scheduled to speak to say he had a scheduling conflict.

He also missed a forum with the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence in May.

Plummer's campaign on Thursday didn't immediately return telephone calls for comment.
