SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - A man has been arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder after police said he beat a person in a wheelchair.Â
On Sept. 24 at 3:03 a.m., Springfield police were called to 6th St. and Jefferson St. Dispatch was told a man was kicking and hitting another man.Â
Officers identified the suspect as 46-year-old Montez Bolden of Springfield. They were able to get video footage of the incident.Â
Officers said they learned the victim was in a wheelchair prior to the beating. The victim was initially unconscious and was rushed to the hospital.Â
Bolden was arrested and charged with attempted first degree murder and three separate counts of aggravated battery.Â
Bolden is in custody in the Sangamon County Jail.Â
