DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – The shooting of a pitbull is under investigation as animal cruelty, police say.
Officers report the pitbull attacked another dog before someone shot it twice. Police say the owners of the other dog were mad about the attack. It’s unclear if the same person owned just the attacked dog or both dogs.
On Wednesday night, two women brought the pitbull to a vet at 1445 E. Pershing Road for treatment after negotiating to take it from the scene.
The vet treated the pitbull and released it to Macon County Animal Control, which police say later euthanized the animal.
