DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – An event to help Decatur-area senior citizens is scheduled for late August.

Ameren Illinois is holding a Power Hour Luncheon for seniors on Aug. 21 for National Senior Citizens Day. It will have interactive booths with information on everything from energy efficiency to utility scam awareness.

Seniors will also have the chance to learn more about proper appliance recycling.

The event is expected to have free lunch, live entertainment and even giveaways.

People are asked to call Ameren at (309)677-5515 for more information. The deadline to RSVP was Aug. 10.

The luncheon is happening at the Salvation Army Community Center, located at 229 W. Main Street, and runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with doors opening at 10.
