URBANA, IL- A federal judge sentences a Sullivan woman who admitted to stealing from her former employer to over three years in prison.
Tammy Loy, 51, will spend the next 38 months in federal prison for embezzling over $270,000 over a six year period from the Mattoon eye clinic where she worked as office manager.
Loy pleaded guilty to embezzlement, tax evasion and making false statements back in April. She was sentenced November 10.Â
Loy admitted that between 2002 and 2007 she embezzled more than $270,000 from her former employer, including taking money that were intended for the company's employee profit-sharing plan. To carry out the scheme and conceal the embezzlement, Loy admitted that she created fake accounts and falsified bank statements and profit-sharing statements.
Loy has been ordered to re-pay the money she stole. Her prison sentence begins December 14.
