DECATUR, Ill. (WAND)- A 19-year-old who died on Tuesday after being shot multiple times in Decatur has been identified.Â
Macon County Coroner Michael D. Burkam said Izreal B. Lewis was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1:15 p.m. from gunshot wounds.Â
Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 500 block of S. Church Street around 12:01 p.m. When they arrived, they found Lewis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Decatur Memorial Hospital by ambulance but did not survive.
Police secured and processed the parking lot where the 19-year-old was found, recovering 17 shell casings.
Multiple interviews were conducted leading police to execute two search warrants at residences on E. North Street and N. 34th Street in Decatur.
Police say they found two firearms, ammunition, and electronic devices during the search.
The investigation remains ongoing.
