Tony 'Chubby' Brown

MACON COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) – Tony “Chubby” Brown won the Macon County sheriff race by one vote, the county clerk says.

Macon County Clerk Steve Bean says the final vote tally was Brown with 19,655 votes to Jim Root’s 19,654 votes. Root was originally declared the winner on Election Day, but Brown declined to concede before all votes could be counted.

“I am waiting on more information from my team in Decatur before I make a decision,” Root told WAND-TV when it reached out for comment on Tuesday evening.

WAND-TV reached out to Brown as well for comment.
