Springfield - Students at UIS are looking for new mascot nicknames to represent their alma mater.

 

Currently, the Prairie Stars serves as the nickname for the university. However, students proposed new names, like Mammoths, Savers, Stampede and Springlers.

 

Students also proposed getting rid of the work prairie and keeping the singular nickname stars. Â
