Second swastika found on UI campus

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (WAND) - The University of Illinois is paying a Chicago-area alum to stop selling T-shirts that say "Make Illinois Great Again" with a drawing of Chief Illiniwek.

Ted O'Malley is getting $7,500 to stop selling the shirts and agreeing to not sell similar shirts in the future, the News-Gazette reports.

Details of the settlement were confidential, but the News-Gazette was able to obtain them by filing an open-records request.

UofI reached a settlement with O'Malley after suing him earlier this year for violating trademarks with the word "Illinois" and using a copyrighted photo of the Chief.

As part of the settlement, the university will not challenge O'Malley's "Make Illinois Great Again" trademark.
