DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Oakwood Tattoo held its annual Toys for Tats promotion on Thursday.

Anyone who brought in an unwrapped toy worth at least $35 got the chance to pick out new ink.

This annual event brings many artists to help out at the shop that day. All the supplies are donated, and Oakwood Tattoo works with other local small businesses with the "Toys for Tots" campaign.

One man getting a tattoo told WAND he donated a Lego set.

"It's good for the kids, man. I like that you donate the toys. I think with the price point here, it gets a lot of people to show up. It's a good cause. And you get something — you get a nice tat."

One woman brought in a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse dollhouse, adding, "Mainly, I just show up for the kids. It's just an added bonus."

In 2023, more than 140 people received tattoos. Crimson Ball, the Shop manager, says the event is all about sharing the spirit of Christmas.

"We like to give back. We have multiple people in here who have families who know what it's like to go through hard times, and we just want to do what we can,"

All the toys donated will go to WAND's Spirit of Giving.
