ALBION, Ill. (WAND) — The wife of a judge in Edwards County, who died in an apparent shooting on Tuesday, has been arrested and charged with murder.

Illinois State Police said, around 12:14 p.m. on November 5, the Edwards County Sheriff's office went to a house in the 1100 block of County Road 600 in Albion.

Once there, deputies said they found the body of Michael Valentine lying outside of the house.

At that time, 8 ISP agents at the White County Jail took his wife, 44-year-old Megan Valentine, into custody.

She has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a gun, and aggravated domestic battery.

ISP said charges were filed after a thorough investigation.

As of this time, there is no further information.
