Will your vote count?

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Americans can be assured their votes will be counted and not hacked when they go to the polls according to the Federal Cyber Security & Infrastructure Security Agency, CISA.

“The reality is election infrastructure has never been more secure. No matter who you vote for you can have confidence that your vote will be counted as cast,” said CISA Director Jen Easterly. “The machines that Americans use to cast their ballots are not connected to the internet.”

While pointing to secure voting systems Easterly also says we should be on the alert for disinformation. Usually spread by Russia, China and Iran. She said one of the objectives of the disinformation is to stoke discord to pit partisan Americans against each other.

Early voting is already underway in Illinois. Election day is November 5, 2024.
