CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) -- Illinois Defensive Back Xavier Scott announced last week he was returning for the 2026 season instead of going to the NFL.
He now joins Matthew Bailey who also announced he will be back as two key players staying at Illinois.
Scott missed the final 10 games of the 2025 season after an ankle injury against Western Michigan.
But he said he is excited to be one of the leaders on the field along side Bailey in the fall.
Illinois fans will have to wait until August to see Scott back on the field, but the big 10 football scheduled will be released next Tuesday so we will find out who they host and will travel to for conference play.
