Clay Haurberg steps down as Argenta-Oreana boys basketball coach

ARGENTA, Ill. (WAND) - After six years as the head boys basketball coach, Clay Haurberg is stepping down.

In a statement released by Haurberg on Tuesday, he said it's not easy to walk away from the program, but he ultimately felt it was time.

His full statement is below:

"I have poured myself into this program since I arrived [six] years ago, building it back to respectability. I am extremely proud of what we accomplished here at A-O. There were multiple factors that led to my decision, and it was not easy to walk away from the great game of basketball. Ultimately, I just felt it was time. I have been coaching multiple sports and/or functioning as an A.D. since 1996. Now I'll be able to pursue other interests and spend much more time with my wife and my [three] kids."
