Millikin football 2025

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Even a lightning delay could not prevent Millikin football from winning their first home game of the season, as Big Blue topped CCIW foe North Park 22-17 Saturday night.

The 2-0 start is the first time the program has won back-to-back game to open their year since the 2019 season.

A 39-yard touchdown run by Re'John Zeno late in the first quarter gave Millikin the early edge, but the Vikings responded with a score of their own to take a 7-6 lead.

However, it was the only time Big Blue trailed in the game. Zech Miller recovered a Vikings fumble at the Millikin 35, returning the pickup for 46-yards before being taken down inside the red zone. Sylas Gomez then linked up with Kevin Louis on a 19-yard passing touchdown.

Millikin carried a 12-9 lead into halftime and kept North Park off the board in the third quarter. Thanks to a 28-yard field goal by Bryson Newport and another rushing score from Zeno, Big Blue carried a 22-9 lead into the final quarter.

Despite the Vikings forcing a safety and a late touchdown, Millikin held on for the 22-17 victory.

Big Blue goes on the road next weekend to take on Augustana. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm.
