CHICAGO, Ill. (NBC Chicago) — Chicago Cubs outfielders Pete Crow-Armstrong and Kyle Tucker have both been elected starters in the upcoming MLB All-Star Game in Atlanta.

The duo, along with Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna, Jr., beat out Los Angeles Dodgers stars Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernandez, along with New York Mets star Juan Soto.

Both players are the Cubs’ first All-Star Game starters since Willson Contreras started the 2022 edition of the game.

Crow-Armstrong, elected to the All-Star Game for the first time, will likely become the first Cubs player to start at the position since Kosuke Fukudome got the spot in 2008. If Tucker starts in right field, he would be the first Cubs player to do so since Sammy Sosa in 2004. If he starts in left field, he would be the first Cubs player to do so since Dave Kingman in 1980.

In 84 games this season, Crow-Armstrong is batting .265 with 21 home runs, 62 RBI’s and 25 stolen bases. He has 44 total extra-base hits, and has a WAR of 4.5 on the year.

Tucker will make his fourth appearance in the All-Star Game, having gone each of the last three seasons as a member of the Houston Astros. This season, Tucker is slashing an impressive .290/.393/.533, with 17 home runs and 52 RBI’s to go along with 20 stolen bases.

Carson Kelly, who was a finalist in the National League at the catcher position, lost out to Will Smith of the Los Angeles Dodgers in this week’s voting, but could still be a reserve player, with bench spots announced on Sunday.

Javier Báez, who started the 2018 game as a second baseman and the 2019 game as a shortstop for the Cubs, will make his return to the All-Star Game this season as a member of the Detroit Tigers, starting in the outfield. According to MLB's Sarah Langs, he will be just the fourth position player to start at three different spots in the All-Star Game.

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game is set to take place on Tuesday, July 15 at Atlanta’s Truist Park.
