OMAHA, Neb. (WAND) -- The Illini are still dancing.
Third-seeded Illinois defeated Morehead State 85-69 to move onto the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The bench came up big for Illinois with 37 points. Dain Dainja, who has continued his dominant postseason had 21 of them.
"This is March and I'm just doing everything I really can," said Dainja. "I just refuse to lose, whatever that looks like to help the team win I'm going to do it."
Marcus Domask also had a historic night becoming only the 10th player in NCAA tournament history to record a triple-double. Domask finished the night with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assist. He joins some elite company in Shaquille O'Neal, Ja Morant and Draymond Green. Domask knew he was on triple-double watch thanks to Terrence Shannon putting it in his ear.
"Terrence really wanted me to get it," said Domask. "When I was four points away he said if I don't start shooting he's going to fight me. So I had to start shooting."
Terrence Shannon Jr. led the team in scoring with 26, setting the program's single season scoring record. A record that had been in place since 1966.
Illinois is back in action Saturday when they face Duquesne. Tip off is set for 7:40 p.m. CT.
