DECATUR, IL. (WAND) - Another pleasant day is on tap for Central Illinois Thursday, but a rainy system will move in by Friday morning, bringing rain chances throughout the day.
Thursday: More of the Same
Thursday will be a near-repeat of Wednesday with mild conditions and low humidity. Temperatures will start cool in the low 60s this morning before warming at a steady pace. Expect highs in the low to mid 80s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies that will turn partly cloudy by evening. Humidity will remain comfortable, making it another nice day to be outside.
Overnight, temperatures will cool back into the mid 60s as clouds increase. By Friday morning, skies will be overcast as our next weather system approaches from the west.
Friday: Rain Expected All Day
A cut-off low-pressure system will move into the Midwest on Friday, bringing rain chances to Central Illinois. Rain is expected to overspread the area through the morning and will hang around off and on throughout the day. Most of the region will experience steady to heavy rain, though isolated storms are possible.
Temperatures will be cooler on Friday, topping out in the upper 70s. Showers will continue overnight into Saturday as the low-pressure system moves very slowly across the area.
Saturday: Wet and Cool
Showers will persist Saturday morning and afternoon as the system continues to move through. Temperatures will only reach the mid-70s. The low-pressure system will finally push out of Central Illinois Saturday evening, bringing an end to the rain. Some flooding will be possible with these showers. Most of the area should see an inch or more of rain by the time the showers wrap up. Higher totals will be possible in some areas.
Sunday and Beyond: Back to Nice
Drier and calmer conditions will return on Sunday with low humidity. Temperatures will start in the low 60s in the morning and warm to the low 80s by afternoon.
Next week is shaping up to be quiet and calm with high temperatures staying steady in the low 80s.
