The full moon will peak on Monday; with tonight's weather being good to see it nearly full under partly cloudy skies.
The May full moon is known as the Flower Moon and its nickname comes from the abundance of flowers blooming during the this time of the year.
Also, the Flower Moon will be a micromoon. This is will make the moon appear smaller and dimmer in the night sky.
A micromoon happens when the moon is at its apogee or its farthest point in orbit from the Earth.
Today's moonrise will be before sunset at 7:27 PM.
Also. today will be the first time in 2025, that Decatur will experience a sunset at 8 PM or later; which will continue through August 8th.
