Congratulations! September 13th is now the new hottest day of the year for Springfield, Decatur, Lincoln, and Champaign. In Springfield and Decatur, the high temperature Saturday rose to 97º. In Lincoln the high temperature was 96º. At each of these places, the previous hottest day of 2025 happenend on August 16th. On that day, Lincoln hit 94º, Springfield hit 95º, and Decatur hit 96º. 

New Hottest Day of 2025

Champaign is a little different. Today only tied the hottest day of the year there, and the hottest day was not August 16th. Saturday Champaign saw a high temperature of 96º which was also the high temperture on June 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th. These numbers for Saturday's high temperatures are preliminary hourly observations. While they will not go down, they may go up when all data from between the hourly observations has been reported. The updated climate report comes out around 1:30 AM Sunday. All of this data is reported by the National Weather Service office in Lincoln.
