(WAND) -  The title of this article is an old proverb that reminds us that April is quite the fickle month, and your Winter sweaters shouldn't be put away just yet.

The latest push of Canadian chill has already crossed the border and will settle in tonight. A clearing sky and little to no wind will combine with this air mass to allow a thick blanket of frost to form. This shouldn't come as a surprise to area gardeners as the average last frost is about a month away.

The freeze warning that is in effect overnight does not include some northern tier counties only because the growing season hasn't technically started in these areas.

Rest assured, everyone will have at least a light freeze (temps 28-31 degrees for 3 or more consecutive hours) if not a hard freeze (below 28 degrees for 3 or more consecutive hours).

If work, school or errands have you out before 9am Tuesday, then give yourself time to scrape frost off the windshield; that is, if you don't have a garage or carport.
