DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - It's summer, so it should be hot, right?! We've already had quite a few days in excess of 90 degrees. FeelsLike temperatures over 100 are a relic from last week, but will return.Â
The core of heat under a large dome of high pressure currently resides west of the Continental Divide, over the Great Basin.  This also happens to be the source region for thunderstorms later this week. While severe weather is possible with these storms, tornadic activity is not expected.  Once the storms exit, you'll note on the graphics above that the Great Basin high pressure heat dome shifts back into our laps for next week.  While the heat will likely be similar to last week, the humidity won't be as high.  What does that mean? FeelsLike temperatures will peak near to slightly over 100, but no 110s. I'm not sure that's a silver lining.Â
Stay safe and stay sweaty.Â
