URBANA, Ill. (WAND) — Heartstrong Meals is looking for volunteers to help pack and distribute 2,000 free holiday meals in Champaign County.Â
Heartstrong is hosting the 2025 Thanksgiving Big Give, an annual countywide effort providing 2,000 free Thanksgiving meals to families across Champaign County.
The event will be on Saturday, November 22 at Quest United Methodist Church in Urbana.Â
Households in need of a meal can register and select a 30-minute pickup window on Heartstrong's online meal registration form.
Each meal kit includes a turkey or turkey breast, holiday sides, fresh produce and pantry staples. Limited delivery will be available for households facing transportation or mobility barriers.Â
Heartstrong is also looking for volunteers to help with evening meal packing on November 20-21, food labeling and organization, pickup-day distribution, delivery driving, and cleanup and tear-down. Volunteers can sign up using Heartstrong's online sign-up form.
The Big Give event is powered entirely by community support. According to Heartstrong, almost $50,000 has been raised through donations and sponsorships. The organization is working toward an $80,000 goal to fully fund meal purchases, delivery operations and event operations. Donations can be sent to the Heartstrong Foundation's clover website.
