5 Things to do this weekend

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across central Illinois.

Here are a selection of events, markets, concerts and more happening Friday, November 21 to Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Old Capitol Winter Farmers Market

The Old Capitol Farmers Market has been overseen by downtown Springfield since 1999. It is recognized as the most popular market in central Illinois and is the largest downstate producer-only market. 

The market supports small farms and local growers by providing an open air venue to sell their goods in the heart of downtown Springfield. It aims to encourage healthy lifestyles, celebrate the diversity presented by farmers and makers, and serve as a community gathering place.

When: Saturday, November 22 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Where: Union Station, 500 E. Madison St., Springfield, IL

Local First Springfield Holiday Market

Local First Springfield is preparing to host their inaugural holiday market. The event is free to attend and will feature a variety of vendors. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will also be in attendance!

When: Saturday, November 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: 4491 Old Chatham Road, Springfield, IL

Cocoa & Creations (Special Story Time)

A story time led by Eastern Illinois University students, families get the opportunity to cozy up with some hot cocoa for a story time and finish up with a fun craft. Attendance is free and registration is not needed.

When: Saturday, November 22 at 10 a.m.

Where: Mattoon Public Library, 1600 Charleston Ave, Mattoon, IL

Champaign Mistletoe Market

The Mistletoe Market is a unique opportunity for shoppers to get into the holiday spirit. The market features many small local and regional creative businesses. 

The market will appear four times this holiday season, with their opening date this weekend.

When: Saturday, November 22 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: The Orpheum, Champaign, IL

Decatur Turkey Trot

5K, 10K, or Half Marathon run; or 1/2-mile Turkey Tot Trot in Fairview Park! Tot Trot (Ages 12 & under) includes a T-shirt and participation prizes. 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon races include computerized results and 3-deep awards per age group. More information can be found here.
