CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - Renowned author, actor and activist Fran Lebowitz is making a stop this week in Central Illinois.

The Champaign Park District said that "An Evening with Fran Lebowitz" will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at the Virginia Theatre.

The event will feature an on-stage discussion hosted by Parkland College professor Amy Penne, with an audience Q&A and a book signing.

“Fran Lebowitz is a national treasure and one of our last true public intellectuals—blunt, brilliant and gloriously unimpressed. Sharing the stage with her will be a masterclass in candor, comic timing, and calling it like it is. She's pure New York, and I can't wait to welcome her to the Virginia Theatre,” Penne said in a statement via the park district's release.

Lebowitz is most known for her recurring role on "Law & Order" and a role in "The Wolf of Wall Street," along with being the author of bestselling books, "Metropolitan Life" and "Social Studies."

Tickets are available on the Virginia Theatre's website or by calling 217-356-9063.
