Israel Holocaust Remembrance Day

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A Holocaust exhibit is opening in Champaign, urging people to never forget. 

The Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation Holocaust Education Center will host a ribbon cutting to open "The Courage to Remember," a Holocaust education exhibit. 

The ribbon cutting is happening inside Marketplace Shopping Center, which donated the space for the educational installation. The shopping center is located at 2000 N. Neil St. in Champaign by Center Court. 

The exhibit, developed by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, chronicles the Holocaust through more than 40 display panels, rare photographs and personal stories. It is designed for both students and adults. 

It will be open Monday, Oct. 20 through Saturday, Nov. 1. Viewing hours are noon to 7 pm Monday through Friday and noon to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. 

It is free to attend. 

Tours are available Monday through Friday for school groups (grades 5-12) by appointment only.
