DIETERICH, Ill. (WAND) — A woman is dead and a man is in the hospital after a head-on crash in Effingham County Sunday morning.
The Effingham County Sheriff's Department responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Dieterich blacktop about one mile south of Dieterich just after 8:30 a.m.
According to the Effingham County Coroner, 39-year-old Nathan Roley was driving a pick-up truck northbound on the Dieterich blacktop when he crossed the centerline and hit a van driven by 63-year-old Jacqueline Adams.
Adams was pronounced dead at the scene. Roley was taken to the hospital and later airlifted to a regional trauma center.
The crash is still under investigation pending a toxicology report and the Illinois State Police traffic reconstruction report.
