DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Boys and Girls Club of Central Illinois has received a $10,000 grant to help with academic programs.

The Springfield-based organization made the announcement Thursday.

The grant is between a national partnership with the Panda Cares Foundation, a charity arm of the restaurant chain Panda Express.

"This support from Panda Cares comes at a pivotal moment for our organization and our youth,” said Boys and Girls Club of Central Illinois CEO  Tiffany Mathis Posey “Every day, our Central Unit becomes a hub of growth,  resilience, and opportunity for hundreds of young people who deserve to feel  seen, supported, and academically empowered. This grant helps us continue to meet that promise. We are deeply grateful for Panda Cares’ belief in our mission and their unwavering commitment to helping kids succeed inside and outside the classroom.”

BGCCIL said the money will help Project Learn, a signature academic program that helps with enrichment, homework, and learning-focused programming.

The grant will help make sure youth have access to tools that improve reading, math, comprehension, and overall confidence.
