EFFINGHAM, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced the closure of U.S. 40 starting March 16 between Cumberland Rd. and South Jefferson St. in Cumberland County for a bridge replacement project over the Embarras River.Â
There will be a detour posted directing traffic to Interstate 70 using Illinois 130 in Greenup and Spring Creek Rd. in Montrose.Â
The project will improve smoothness and safety along U.S. 40.Â
It is expected to be done in November.Â
