DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - The Danville Area Community College's theater has a name: the John and Kay Shaner Theater. 

The college held a dedication ceremony Thursday at the Bremer Center following a $500,000 donation from the Shaners. 

John Shaner said the idea came from his time in college. 

"I was raised in a small town, I went to a small college — Illinois College in Jacksonville — and they had a chapel, similar to this one. And I came to the DACC programs to see and I thought, 'Hey, it needs a name!'" he said. 

John was an engineer for 44 years and Kay served as a Danville educator for 34 years.
