House, roof, real estate

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The City of Decatur will be accepting pre-applications for a roof replacement program offered by the Illinois Housing Development Authority.

Pre-applications will be accepted starting November 17.

IHDA’s Home Repair and Accessibility Program will help Decatur homeowners with roof replacements, while also helping residents stay in their homes.

Assistance is provided to qualified homeowners in the form of a three-year forgivable loan with a zero percent interest rate and no monthly payment. Eligible homeowners can get up to $25,000 for repairs.

Pre-applications will be accepted starting 8 a.m. on November 17 through 5 p.m. on November 21. They will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Only one pre-application per household will be accepted.

Eligible homeowners must be at or below 80 percent area median income for their household size, current on their mortgage, and own a single-family home in need of roof replacement, among other requirements.

Pre-applications can be submitted online starting November 17 by clicking here.

If you need help with the pre-application you can visit the Economic & Community Development Department on the 3rd floor of the Decatur Civic Center. Call 217-424-2797 for more information.

The City of Decatur received $400,000 from IHDA as part of a total of $15 million awarded to 34 local governments and nonprofit organizations for HRAP.
