DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Decatur community members came together Saturday to make sure families had a meal this Thanksgiving season.

The World Service Enterprise Center Organization hosted a community-wide Thanksgiving dinner at MacArthur High School.

The event was meant to help food-insecure families and homeless people have a Thanksgiving meal ahead of the holiday.

Organizer Carlotta Witherspoon said the event reflected the spirit of togetherness during the holidays.

"We're the backbone of Macon County," said Witherspoon. "Us coming together shows that we are all for the same cause. It's about family. It's about community."

The organization will host another dinner in December for Christmas.
