DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur residents interested in running for mayor or one of three City Council seats in the 2027 municipal election can now pick up nominating petitions.
Petitions are available at the City Clerk’s Office inside the Decatur Civic Center. Additionally, these petitions are accessible online through the City’s website at www.decaturil.gov/161/City-Clerk.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, registered voters, at least 18 years old and have lived within Decatur city limits for at least one year before the election.
Each candidate must collect at least 45 signatures from registered voters.
Completed petitions can be filed from Oct. 19 through Oct. 26, 2026.
The consolidated primary election, if needed, is scheduled for Feb. 23, 2027. The consolidated election will be held April 6, 2027.
