DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Noah Edwards loved many things, but two of his favorites were SpongeBob, and the color green.Â

"He loved a lot of colors, but green was always his favorite..." shared his grandmother, Jeanie Edwards, with a smile.Â
Noah was killed after being hit by a car on his way to school Thursday morning.
Saturday afternoon, Noah's closest family and friends gathered green balloons and SpongeBob gear to honor him.
"What a true blessing he was, to all of us," Edwards added.
If you happened to look up outside that day, you might have caught the sea of green that coated the sky. The sight went for miles as fistfuls of green balloons lifted into the air.
"This is more than just the immediate family, but for the whole community," Edwards said, as she looked around at everyone gathered on the corner of Packard Street and Oakland Avenue.
"We all stick together," shared Noah's neighbor, Mary Cliff. "Things happen, and we never know when. But when they happen, it hurts."
As balloons were released into the sky, so were memories and stories about Noah.
Noah's cousin, Weslie Brinkmeyer, smiled when he said, "He was the best cousin ever."
